Derbyshire County Council’s Mobile Library timetable for Findern

Visits to the village by Derbyshire County Council’s Mobile Library service will operate from 14 December 2020 with a new reduced timetable.

Derbyshire library service has two mobile libraries, based at Buxton and Long Eaton, serving around 150 communities across the county. These communities are visited once every four weeks and the mobile libraries offer a range of services for everyone including fiction and non-fiction books for adults and children, large print books, books on tape and books on CD as well as a selection of local studies books and information.

The mobile libraries have a lift for wheelchair users and people with mobility problems.

The service will visit the Lower Green car park in Findern between 10am and 12 noon on: –

  • Friday 18 December 2020
  • Friday 15 January 2021
  • Friday 12 February 2021

The service is operating a `book and borrow’ system, which means customers need to phone to book an appointment on one of the numbers below, and will be able to pick up a maximum of 10 books.

  • Buxton mobile library: 01629 533464
  • Long Eaton mobile library: 01629 531398

Appointment times will last 5 minutes, and for the time being customers will not be able to select their own books by stepping onto the vehicle. Instead, they will be asked what type of books they like reading and a selection will be made for them so they can pick them up at their allotted time.

All returned books will be quarantined for 72 hours and customers will need to bring their own bag to pick up their books.

As the service is mornings only it will not be possible to visit all the usual stops, and new routes have been introduced. This will be reviewed over the coming weeks and months.

Customers affected by the changes can contact ask.library@derbyshire.gov.uk or call 01629 533444 to discuss receiving a home library service during this period.
