Further Statement Re: Meeting

We the Parish Council would like to clarify our position regarding facilities for the older children within the community.

A meeting was arranged to give the community an opportunity to engage with the Parish Council to discuss ideas for improving the facilities for the older children of the village. We were advised to cancel the meeting after it came to our attention that there were negative comments and threats of a violent nature aimed at the Parish Council and its Councillors on social media. Even if these comments were said in jest we will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and take any negative comments and threats of violence seriously.

We do apologise to anyone that rearranged plans in order to attend the meeting.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused but we need to make sure that Councillors are safe whilst undertaking their duties.

It was suggested by one of the Parish Councillors at the meeting held on the 27th April 2018 that it would be a good idea to engage with the older children directly to encourage them to come up with ideas as to what facilities for them they would like to see in the village.  This is what we wanted to do but for the reasons outlined above unfortunately the meeting did not take place.

After seeing the positive comments and ideas placed on the Community Page we now have a “Wish List” which will be discussed by the Parish Council in due course but firstly the Parish Council need to discuss how to take this matter forward safely for all concerned.

Many thanks and kindest regards
