Due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation, it is with regret that the Parish Council must announce the postponement of the village’s VE Day celebration on Friday 8 May 2020, an event many of our residents were looking forward to.
The event was to take the place of the Village Fete this year; with the date being brought forward to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe. Organised by a joint Committee with members from the Parish Council, the Village Hall Committee and local residents, the event promised to be a fun day for the community with a street party and entertainment.
We will hold the event as soon as we are able; with the intention of also celebrating the end of the Coronavirus crisis; giving thanks for all those who have helped get us through this time – from the brilliant NHS Staff, to shop workers, delivery drivers and many more; and closer to home the volunteers in the village who have helped neighbours; the group of Findern ladies who are supporting local NHS staff by sewing masks, headbands and scrub bags; and the local businesses who have soldiered through – like Raj at the Village Store.
Of course, we cannot at this time give a date when the event will take place, but if you would like to get involved and help with the organisation of the event, please contact the Clerk of the Parish Council on info@findernparishcouncil.org and your details will be passed on to the Committee.
