South Derbyshire District Council consult with residents on the Local Plan

South Derbyshire District Council has begun work on producing a new local plan for the District, which sets out where new housing, employment, retail, and other development should go, up to 2028. The Local Plan also includes policies that are used to determine planning applications. From 10 October 2022 the Council will enter a consultation period with all residents and interested parties. This ‘Issues and Options’ consultation, is the first formal consultation as part of this update to the Local Plan. Its purpose is to ensure that the Emerging Local Plan covers all the right issues including housing, jobs, infrastructure, health, climate change and the built and natural environment. They would like to hear your views and ideas on the issues and options they will need to take into account.

Findern residents will get an early opportunity to give their views as the District Council are holding a consultation event on Tuesday 11 October in Findern Village Hall. Residents can drop in between 3.30pm – 6.45pm to view the options proposed, talk to Officers and give their views.

Image shows cover of South Derbyshire's Draft Local PlanLocal Plans take time to produce – there are processes that need to be followed, evidence that needs to be collected and differing points of view that need to be reconciled. Consultation is a key part of the process – it’s your opportunity to get involved with your ideas about what the plan could include so do go along to this consultation event and have your say.

The Findern event is one of a series of drop-in events that are to be held around the District throughout October and the beginning of November and these are listed below. The events are open to all, and you don’t have to attend your nearest one.  Please tell friends and family as the Council would like to see as many residents in attendance as possible.
